Nightcoil Networks operates a small IP network and hosting footprint. We take abuse originating from, or targeting, our infrastructure seriously and respond to every credible report.
Reports go to abuse@nightcoil.net. Correspondence is retained as part of our security record.
prohibited
The following uses of Nightcoil infrastructure — whether by direct customer, downstream, or any other party — are prohibited without exception:
- Denial-of-service infrastructure: booter, stresser, amplification hosting, botnet command-and-control.
- Malware hosting, exploit kit delivery, credential-stuffing tooling.
- Phishing sites, fraud landing pages, brand impersonation infrastructure.
- Spam origination, mail-abuse relay, unsolicited bulk messaging.
- Distribution of child sexual abuse material (CSAM) or content promoting sexual exploitation of minors.
- Infrastructure supporting harassment campaigns, doxxing, or targeted intimidation.
- Traffic that violates applicable sanctions regimes, including OFAC and UK sanctions lists.
- Any activity prohibited under UK Computer Misuse Act 1990, US CFAA 18 U.S.C. §1030, or the Council of Europe Convention on Cybercrime.
Provisioning requests for prohibited use cases are declined without further engagement.
reporting
Send abuse reports to abuse@nightcoil.net. Include:
- The IP address, hostname, or ASN involved.
- Timestamp with timezone.
- A brief description of what was observed.
- Log excerpts, headers, or URLs where available.
Reports may be sent in the clear or PGP-encrypted; a public key is available on request. Anonymous reports are accepted but responses cannot be delivered.
response
Initial acknowledgement is targeted within one working day. Investigation timeline depends on severity: active attack traffic is prioritised; historical or advisory reports are handled in order.
Where a report is substantiated, Nightcoil may null-route affected prefixes, suspend accounts, or terminate contracts. Where the source is external to our network, we forward to the responsible operator and, in serious cases, to the appropriate national CERT or law-enforcement channel.
Recruitment attempts for prohibited use cases — including offers to purchase infrastructure for booter, stresser, spam, or fraud operations — are logged and, at our discretion, reported to NCA Action Fraud (UK) and relevant CERT teams.
posture
Nightcoil correlates signals across its surfaces — public tools, customer intake, and abuse reports — to detect and refuse infrastructure requests that fit known abuse patterns. Behavioural signals, not story-consistency, govern that decision.
Retention of correspondence is indefinite as a security research corpus; personal data is minimised and, where feasible, hashed. Subject-access requests are handled per GDPR Article 15 within 30 days.
